Dear Korea!

We’re shooting a science fiction short film the weekend after next (31 November – 2 December).

No, wait, we’re shooting what we think will be Korea’s best SF film ever (so far) that weekend. We’re hoping to send it to festivals, to get some more interest in Korean SF, and you can help be a part of that! Your name will appear in the credits and the press kit for the film (unless you want to be anonymous).

We’re looking for Korean extras. We need men and women.

If you come and help out as an extra, we will pay you in Pizza and Free! Homemade! Delicious! Beer! But see below for other forms of compensation…

Here are the details:

  • Date: 2 December 2012
  • Time: From 11:00am into the afternoon. (But if you come late, that’s fine: we can always use more people!)
  • Place: Samjeong Elementary School, near Bucheon City Hall. (Naver Maps.)

Men Extras:  Please wear trainers: training pants and a matching jacket, along with running shoes. You should also bring a warm jacket. Your will appear on screen mainly as background, so don’t be shy!

Female Extras: Don’t be shy: your face is unlikely to be onscreen. If you have an ajumma visor, bring one. If not, come in either a skirt suit or in other conservative clothing.

Compensation: We don’t have much budget, but once again, we’re offering pizza and Free! Delicious! Beer! to the people who do come, once the shoot is over. Anyone who participates in the shoot is welcome to join us celebrating.

Also, your name will of course appear in the credits to the film, and you will receive a DVD copy of the movie as well as a copy of any promotional materials we create. For the first three people to reserve their participation (who actually show up), you will receive a movie prop as a keepsake of the experience.

Please Let Us Know: If you’re planning to come, please let us know: we’re trying to figure out how many people will be there. You can to confirm that you will join us as an extra. That way, we can send you a message in case the shooting date needs to be postponed, for example because of bad weather.

We’re not likely to make any money on this project: it’s a labor of love, but we want to put a little bit of Korean SF out there into the world. We’re hoping Korea’s wonderful SF community will be able to help us with that. If you’re interested, we’d love to have you, and are looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks very much!
